HERRAMIENTA PARA EL ANALISIS DE PAISAJE EN CUSCO Y NAPO

Propuesta Metodológica

Análisis CCUT

The goal of this work package is to map recent patterns of LUCC for the two study areas with emphasis on changes in forest cover. For the LUCC analysis, the target period will be 1990-present. The rationale for the LUCC component is to provide the SDSS with basic information related to historical patterns of forest use and conversion and their variability in time and space. The proposed methodology uses a time series of Landsat images and procedures for direct detection and classification of changes.

Fragmentación del Paisaje

This work package seeks to generate fine-scale information for the structure of forest remnants. The rationale is to generate landscape indicators to compare different land use management units (e.g. farms). The methodology will be based on the visual interpretation of high resolution remote sensing inputs.

Implementación de Proyectos

The analysis that is carried out target to identify key stakeholders (i.e. local government) implementing projects that have a high level of impact in the landscape composition. It includes three types of projects: environmental (e.g. forestation, conservation), productive (cacao, coffee, citrus) and infrastructure (mainly new roads), and includes identifying beneficiaries and their spatial distribution.

Herramienta

The proposed Environmental Decision Support System enables users to visualize and analyze data of relevance for the landscape. The information analysis includes CCUT and fragmentation analysis described in previous sections, but it will also include details of projects implemented in a given landscape and the benefits that the communities or farmers got from these initiatives.

ACERCA DE

INFORMACIÓN DEL PROYECTO

This project presents the methodological proposal to develop a landscape analysis in the ICAA sites coordinated by Rainforest Alliance at Napo and Cusco. The main objective of the project “Landscape Analysis in Cusco and Napo” is to develop a spatial environmental decision support system (EDSS) that integrates different inputs including land use and cover change, fragmentation analysis and projects interventions. The proposed EDSS will enable key users (e.g. local stakeholders, governments and project managers) to visualize and analyze relevant data for natural resource management to spatially depict different aspects of projects that were implemented in a given landscape as well as land use and cover dynamics. Please consider this document as a work in progress (WiP) that will be improved along the process of designing and implementing a SDSS to support natural resource management in the two ICAA intervention areas.
